How a faucet controls water
A faucet mixes hot and cold water through a cartridge, a ball or two compression stems. The moving parts wear with use, and the wear shows as a drip or a stiff handle, which is why we also provide water leak repair.
Water quality affects that wear. Hard water leaves scale inside the body, which is common in this part of Georgia.
Why faucets leak
Most leaks come from a worn seal, a corroded cartridge or a loose connection. A crack in the body is different and usually means replacement.
Finding which one applies takes a look inside the faucet, not a guess.
When to stop repairing
Repeated repairs on the same faucet point to a body that is failing. At that stage a replacement costs less over time.
Our guide on repair versus replace trade-offs explains how to weigh it.
