Why pipes fail
Pipe fails from corrosion, age, high pressure and ground movement. Copper thins from the inside, and joints crack under stress.
Where the pipe is buried, a shifting soil or a root can crack it, and the leak shows up far from the break.
Repair or replace
Repair suits a single leak on otherwise sound pipe. Replacement suits pipe with repeated leaks or heavy corrosion.
Our guide on when repair is the right choice versus replacement walks through the trade-offs for pipe, water heaters and sewer lines. A copper pipe leak repair may be all a sound copper line needs.
How we find the problem
We use leak detection and, where needed, video pipe inspection to see inside the line before we dig.
That evidence tells us where the pipe has failed and whether a pipe repair will hold. Our guide to diagnostic methods explains how each one is used.
